Something not mentioned in the article is that OpenAI is in direct competition
with several other non-profits whose goals are (or include) to ensure provably
friendly AI — MIRI being the obvious example. I’m a little worried that all of
these seem to be run on the west coast of the US and funded by the same group
of ‘california ideology’ folks — if there are any hardcore marxists around who
want to ensure provably friendly AI, I recommend that they set up some
competition too!
