- :D it’s not much but it’s honest work (tm). This brings the #Fediverse to parity w.r.t. [[agora bot]] functionality, finally!

- What do you think of the revolutionary potential of the #Fediverse? For me it’s clear: people having control of a [[decentralized]]/[[distributed]] digital [[commons]] yields a liquid democratic platform which can be used to optimize large scale communication for mutual understanding and cooperation, leading to a meaningful global revolution via logical increments.

- Is there an emerging standard for which subdomain to use for ActivityPub/Fediverse when the domain is already in use for a website/app?As in, what’s the equivalent of the www prefix for the #Fediverse, if there is one?

- #Mastodon sucks a bit by the way, but:1. It sucks less than Twitter in many interesting ways.
2. It is developed by humans you can mostly directly talk to.
3. It can be improved by you or your friends, given it’s open source.
4. It is only one out of many #Fediverse providers.

- I may start by putting up a static page which just lists https://joinmastodon.org alongside with the equivalent sites for every other #Fediverse provider, and other meta sites (like federation maps).

- This weekend I plan to take a look at [[Twitter]], I haven’t been around for a while but I dislike the idea of just cross posting there without interacting with people — the same way I disliked the idea of doing the opposite back when the [[Fediverse]] was not yet my primary social network.

- It was good while it lasted; it seems with the @TwitterAPI changes little [[Agora Bot]] will be shutting down.It will remain fully available in the [[Fediverse]].

- I’ve been away so long in a way. From this [[mental space]], I mean — from just writing my thoughts in raw format and without limitations on the #Fediverse (on #Twitter before that, when I thought one could be part of the other).

- @jotaemei I think so, I will try to make it!Also it’ll be an inspiration for making the [[Agora]] more of a part of the #Fediverse by then :)

- @3wordchant @ntnsndr they should likely be put in communally guarded penalty islands until they repent from violence and hate.I think we need to build the technology for this together, cooperate optimally with [[threads]] while ensuring they adopt an ethical stance and provide sufficient tools for the #Fediverse communities to be able to protect themselves.
-
[[2024-01-01 23:40:42+00:00]] @[[flancian@social.coop]] (link):
- @3wordchant @ntnsndr in general I just want to try to think first, as a community, of the large number of people who are in [[threads]] because that’s where they friends are, for example — and how to help them onboard to the #Fediverse as well as we can!I would rather their first contact is with friendly open people and groups like those at #socialcoop

- I’m surprised there seems to be very scant [[error reporting]] in the #Fediverse (meaning ActivityPub). I expected ‘wrong’/misshapen activities to result in some kind of error reporting activity coming back to the source, but nope. Mastodon at least seems to just accept the activity and drop it silently in the floor later (unless you have access to its logs, which you don’t for the vast majority of instances out there).Does anyone out there do better?

- The sorties I’m taking (away from here, the #Fediverse — occasionally away even from the [[Agora]]) are getting longer and longer. Every time I look forward to returning. Some day, I know, it may not happen at all. That’s alright :) I’ll miss you wherever I am, if I’m still around! And I’ll wish you the best.

- ITT: ways in which [[Bluesky]] is better than [[Mastodon]], and how it could be a great addition to the [[Fediverse]] :)

- Asking the public, thanks for your replies and boosting :)Is there a #Fediverse client that doesn’t suck for writing threads? Meaning facilitating writing longer form writing even within the limitations of the the micropost format; letting you shape a thread first, edit it and then post it as a whole
-
[[2024-08-11 14:08:26+00:00]] @[[flancian@social.coop]] (link):
- I went to boost a post, having forgotten which social platform I was in (sometimes with the different clients it takes me a minute to remember if I’m in the Fediverse, or in Bluesky (which will join the Fediverse fully soon), or in X (which doesn’t have plans to IIUC).)I saw this in the UI and I thought: cool, I can [[quote post]], like in a platform that fully makes sense to me. it turns out this was in #X. You can’t widely perform this action today in the #Fediverse, and that gives me pause.
-
[[2024-08-16 20:17:34+00:00]] @[[flancian@social.coop]] (link):
- It’s been a while since I really really wrote a significant volume in the #Fediverse, like I used to do sometimes back in [[Twitter days]]
-
[[2024-08-29 09:30:47+00:00]] @[[flancian@social.coop]] (link):
- Because of this kind of thing a #Fediverse friendly schism seems likely. There will always be people who want to be more liberal than that (in what they accept, what they produce, what they try in their instances, what they can assume while experimenting). So having two Fediverse modes, one based around opt-in federation and one based (as currently) on opt-out, makes sense to me.We should plan for this and do it right to ensure that the Fediverse remains healthy even as it "forks" in this way.

- A #Fediverse free text #poll for those interested: Which instances do you see as "good stewards" of the Fediverse? Or: which instance admins do you particularly trust?Interested in #SocialCoop feedback in particular, but open to everyone.
