    I feel like I’m not reading others enough — as I only have access to a chronological timeline of the Fediverse, I can’t search or browse per [[topic]] well.

    You could call it a markdown extension — it’s a [[wikilink]], like e.g. Wikipedia or many personal knowledge management systems use them.

    It’s a link that is unresolved (for now), but can be understood to be an entity that can be looked up/talked about. Some systems call it a #topic.
